Insurance Fraud Ring Broken

Investigating two structure arson fires on a rural road we noticed a late model front-end loader with its operator cage cut off in a field near one of the buildings. We verified that the piece had been stolen from a job site in another city.

While interviewing local residents about the fires, our investigation turned up evidence from residents about a series of burglaries, a stolen bulldozer and several stolen 5000 gallon tanker trucks found in the immediate area minus their oil along with other criminal activity.

Coordinating further investigation with the insurance carriers' involved, and local and state police, six local men were indicted. Each was later convicted after a jury trial or pled out to over 50 felony property crimes including the arson fires.

The carriers had all the evidence needed to make subrogation recoveries.
